Help for Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence
One of the struggles of writing fiction is to describe parts of the world that you wish weren’t there. You know awful things will happen to your characters. You know some of your characters will do awful things to others. You hate this part of creating, but you can’t turn away from it.
In the real world, however, sexual assault and domestic violence are not plot points. They are devastating acts that can take years to address—particularly when they happen to us as children.
If you or someone you know is a victim of sexual violence, look for help. The links below may be a place to start. There are also dozens of state and community-level organizations that are ready to listen and offer aid.
You are not alone.
